RPL is an assessment pathway

RPL is not an automatic conversion of years worked into a qualification. A qualified assessor must confirm that the evidence for each claimed unit is valid, sufficient, authentic and current.

Experience in one part of painting and decorating may not cover every requirement of the qualification. Credit Transfer is considered first where authenticated Australian certification is available.

Submitting an enquiry or evidence does not guarantee RPL, enrolment, a qualification, employment, an occupational licence, migration or visa outcomes.

RPL fees and candidate costs

All amounts are in Australian dollars. Your written RPL proposal will confirm the units considered, services included, payment timing, refund conditions and any additional work before you commit or pay.

RPL assessment service

AUD $4,200 total

This total includes an AUD $150 document collation and preliminary mapping service fee.

Included service fee
AUD $150 within the AUD $4,200 total, not an extra charge
Refund condition
The AUD $150 service fee is generally not refundable once document collation and preliminary mapping work has started, subject to Mosman College's Refund Policy and rights that cannot be excluded under Australian Consumer Law
Gap training
AUD $240 per unit, additional to the RPL fee, only where required and agreed in writing before delivery
Tools and materials
Not supplied or included in these fees. Candidate requirements for tools, consumable materials and PPE will be confirmed in writing before any practical activity

Do not pay from website information alone

Mosman College will first review your circumstances and issue a written RPL pathway proposal and fee information. Gap training, reassessment or other additional services will not be charged unless their scope and cost are disclosed and agreed.

How the RPL pathway works

The process is evidence-based and may include several assessment methods. The exact pathway depends on the units claimed and the evidence available.

1

Initial enquiry

Discuss your work history and existing Australian qualifications without sending identity documents or assessment evidence by ordinary email.

2

Scope and proposal

Mosman College considers Credit Transfer first, identifies the units that may be suitable for RPL and provides a written proposal.

3

Secure evidence

If you proceed, the College provides an approved secure method for identity information, employment evidence and assessment material.

4

Assessment

A qualified assessor may use document review, verification, professional conversation, questioning and practical observation.

5

Outcome and gaps

Each unit receives its own assessment decision. Any gap training or further assessment is explained before additional services are agreed.

Evidence and practical requirements

Evidence must show your own current work and must relate directly to the requirements being assessed.

Work evidence

Examples may include job records, quotations, plans, photographs, videos, safety documents and quality or handover records. Relevance and sufficiency are decided by the assessor.

Verification

Mosman College may authenticate qualifications, contact authorised referees and verify the origin and context of submitted evidence.

Practical assessment

Direct observation or additional practical tasks may be required. Site, safety, equipment and PPE requirements are confirmed before booking.

Support and adjustment

You may ask about language, literacy, numeracy, digital or reasonable adjustment support. Adjustments cannot remove the competency requirements.

RPL questions

Does paying the RPL fee guarantee the qualification?

No. Payment does not guarantee any unit outcome or qualification. Results depend on the assessor's decision against current training product requirements.

Is gap training included in AUD $4,200?

No. If gaps are identified, approved gap training is AUD $240 per unit and is additional. The need, scope and cost must be agreed in writing before delivery.

Can I email my passport or evidence?

No. Start with a non-sensitive enquiry only. Mosman College will provide an approved secure submission method if the application stage proceeds.

What if I am a CRICOS student?

Contact Mosman College before seeking RPL or Credit Transfer. Any approved credit may affect course duration and must be handled through the applicable written agreement, CoE and reporting procedures.

Start with a confidential enquiry

Tell us the type of painting and decorating work you have done and whether you hold Australian statements of attainment. Do not attach identity documents or assessment evidence to an ordinary email.
