1. Purpose
Mosman College monitors course progress to support students to complete their course within the expected duration and to identify students who may need additional support.
2. How Progress Is Monitored
Course progress is reviewed at defined study points during the course, such as term review points, scheduled progress checkpoints, or other formally documented review stages relevant to the training plan. Progress may also be reviewed earlier where a student is identified as being at risk. Monitoring may include consideration of:
- completion of assessment tasks
- competency outcomes or academic results where relevant to the course model
- engagement with classes, practical activities, and supervised learning
- participation in intervention or support strategies
- the student's likelihood of completing the course within the expected duration
3. Students at Risk
A student may be identified as at risk where they are:
- not successfully completing required assessment tasks
- not demonstrating satisfactory progress against the training and assessment schedule
- repeatedly failing to engage with learning or support requirements
- unlikely to complete the course within the expected duration without additional support
4. Intervention and Support
Where a student is identified as at risk, Mosman College may arrange one or more intervention strategies, including:
- meetings with an authorised Mosman College staff member
- academic guidance or study planning
- additional training or supervised reassessment opportunities where approved
- referral to language, literacy, welfare, or other support services
- a documented intervention strategy with agreed actions and review dates
5. Notification and Warning Process
Where a student is not meeting satisfactory course progress requirements, Mosman College will notify the student in writing and explain:
- the concern identified
- any support or intervention arrangements available
- the timeframe for responding or improving progress
- the student's right to access the Complaints and Appeals process
For students covered by ESOS or other specific reporting arrangements, Mosman College will manage any intention to report in accordance with the applicable law and approved process.
For students covered by ESOS requirements, where Mosman College intends to take reporting action, the student will be notified in writing and provided access to the internal complaints and appeals process within the required timeframe before any reporting is finalised, unless an exception applies under the applicable requirements.
6. Appeals
Students may access the Complaints and Appeals process if they wish to challenge a course progress decision or related action.
Where required by law or policy, reporting action will not be finalised until the relevant internal and external appeal opportunities have been managed in accordance with the applicable process.
7. Records
Mosman College keeps course progress reviews, warning letters, intervention records, appeal records, and outcomes in accordance with its records management obligations.
