1. Purpose
Mosman College expects students to attend scheduled training, practical sessions, supervised assessment activities, and required support meetings so they can engage effectively in learning and complete their course successfully.
2. Attendance Expectations
Students are expected to:
- attend scheduled classes and practical activities
- arrive on time and remain for the required duration of the session
- notify Mosman College as soon as possible if they cannot attend
- provide supporting evidence where required, such as a medical certificate or other relevant documentation
Attendance supports learning, assessment participation, safety, and timely identification of students who may need support.
3. Recording Attendance
Mosman College records attendance for scheduled training activities and maintains attendance records as part of the student file and administrative record system.
Attendance records may be used to support student progress monitoring, intervention, student support, and any reporting obligations that apply to the student's course and enrolment type.
4. Attendance Risk and Support
Where a student's attendance pattern places them at risk of not meeting course requirements, Mosman College may:
- contact the student to discuss the issue
- issue one or more warning notices
- arrange a support or intervention meeting
- request supporting evidence
- implement a documented support or intervention strategy
5. International Students and Other Regulated Cohorts
For students who are subject to ESOS, visa, or other specific attendance-related obligations, attendance monitoring and any reporting action will be managed in accordance with the student's written agreement, the applicable law, and the approved Mosman College process.
For most VET students, attendance is used primarily to support engagement, wellbeing, and early intervention. Where specific attendance reporting obligations apply, Mosman College will manage those obligations in accordance with the relevant legal and regulatory requirements.
Where formal action may affect a student's enrolment or reporting position, the student will be informed in writing and given access to the Complaints and Appeals process as required.
6. Appeals
Students may access the Complaints and Appeals process if they wish to challenge an attendance-related decision or action.
7. Records
Mosman College keeps attendance records, warning notices, intervention actions, supporting evidence, and related decisions in accordance with its records management obligations.
